U.S. Social Forum is Coming to Philadelphia

The US Social Forum taking place in Philadelphia summer of 2015 is a convergence driven by the understanding that people’s movements are what create social change.  It is an opportunity for regional and issue-specific social justice projects to work towards broader unity.  The goal is to map out action plans for a cohesive movement and organize to be on the offense against all forms of oppression.

The USSF is the next most important step in our struggle to build a powerful and inclusive movement that transforms this country and the world.  We will reach far and near to lift up our people so that they can be heard and know they are not alone.  Through learning together we will tear down divisions and put into practice the idea that ‘Your Fight Is My Fight’.

Community Outreach: Connecticut Students

On Feb. 7th, a group of high school students from Fairfield Ludlowe High School in Connecticut came to learn about PPEHRC as part of their service club field trip in partnership with Youth Service Opportunities Project. We had a great time with the students making sandwiches to pass out to the Kensington community as well as having the students participate in the direct action of handing out the sandwiches they had prepared. It was great to see the students so engaged in the outreach process and we were so thankful for the donations that came in for us to provide a meal and loaves of bread to those in the community.

Protesters In Rep. Paul Ryan’s Office Demand ‘People’s Budget’

Only hours before Paul Ryan and Patty Murray announced that they reached a two year budget agreement (The BiPartisan Budget Act of 2013), representatives from a broad coalition demanding a budget that would cut military expenditures in order to increase funding for a wide range of domestic programs called on Congressional leaders to craft a budget for people, peace and the planet.
