Petition in solidarity with L.A. hunger striker!

The Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC) stands in support of hunger striker Kaleb Havens.

On February 14th, Kaleb Havens of Catholic Worker chained himself to a fence in Skid Row and began a 46-day hunger strike to protest the conditions of those experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. There are an estimated 58,000 people living on the streets, in shelters, or vehicles in Los Angeles County. The city and county have made little progress in providing necessary housing and social services for these individuals and families. The L.A. Housing Services Authority recently rejected four proposed supportive housing projects – projects that could have sheltered almost 300 homeless veterans.

Please sign the following petition to stand with Kaleb Havens during his hunger strike and to call on the L.A. Housing Services Authority and other city and county officials to take immediate action to provide housing for the unsheltered homeless population!

Please sign the petition NOW and share it with all your friends and family!

Your support can go even further than a signature by sending Kaleb a letter of support to LACW at 632 N. Brittania St, Los Angeles, CA 90033-1722, Attention Kaleb, or an email with ‘Kaleb’ in the subject line to info@lacatholicworker.org.
